These magnetic tiles are excellent fun and a great way to encourage imaginative play!
For the past week we have been playing with the 60 piece magnetic tiles building set from Playmags and I must admit it is excellent. That said, when it arrived that wasn’t my first thought – my initial thoughts before taking it from the box were that the kids (4 years old twins) would not find it interesting or even play with it, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The Playmags sets are magnetic building blocks that effortless allow children to create their own 3D structures.
We received the 60 piece magnetic tiles building set that comes with clear coloured magnetic squares and triangles in various sizes and colours that you can build your own creations, the only limit to what you can build is our own imagination and obviously the number of pieces you have available (but you can always purchase other sets to expand it). As building block sets go, this one is excellent!
The box contents are:
1x Car
31x Small Squares (various colours)
4x Windows (Square, various colours)
2x Large Squares (different colours)
10x Small Triangles (various colours)
4x Medium Triangles (various colours)
8x Tall Triangles (various colours)
So once we had taken the pieces out of the box, straightaway the kids were fascinated and wanted to play. They started to construct their own towers and shapes and loved every minute of it. Each piece has several magnets in it (enclosed safely in the plastic pieces) so that you can easily connect pieces together and as each magnet attracts on all sides you can flip pieces around, stand end-on-end, position in various positions etc. and all very easily so even 3 and 4 year old have no problems.
So over the past week the kids have built towers, rockets, houses, boxes, large shapes, cars and trucks and patterns and are still haven’t lost interest as they can build something different all the time.
Each piece has so far stood the test of 4 year old treading on them, dropping, throwing, kicking, fighting over etc. with no broken pieces, cracks in the plastic or magnets becoming loose so is very durable.
This is an excellent construction toy that also helps encourage imaginative play, manual dexterity skills, colour and shape recognition, teamwork, sharing and communication skills. With Christmas fast approaching this would make an excellent gift.
Despite my opinion before opening the box, having played with it with the boys and seen the use and fun they are getting from it every day, I can highly recommend it.
