Edifier TWS NB2 Pro True Wireless Earbuds Review

NB2 Pro

I don’t drive so I walk everywhere I can and use public transport when going somewhere I can’t walk to. When out and about, whether walking or on the train, I like to listen to music on my phone but unlike some teenagers of today I don’t like to play it through the small speaker on my phone for everybody to hear – I wear wireless earbuds. I love wireless earbuds as they are small and lightweight, keep my music personal to me (and doesn’t annoy anyone else), are easily portable with no wires getting in the way and they allow much more freedom of movement over their wired counterparts, and they can be charged on the go using their portable charging case. There are lots of truly wireless earbuds on the market and Edifier kindly sent me a pair of their TWS NB2 Pro True Wireless Earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation to try out.

The Edifier TWS NB2 Pro wireless earbuds are in-ear truly wireless earbuds that connect to your devices (phones, tablets etc.) using Bluetooth v5.0 and are packed with lots of clever technology and have 32 hours play time, support 15 minutes fast charge and even come with in-ear detection.

They feature:

  • Hybrid active noise cancelling technology
  • Dual-mic noise cancellation
  • Three-dimensional audio technology
  • Total 32 hours of playtime is supported
  • Fast 15-minute charging for 2 hours playback
  • Auto in-ear detection
  • Ambient Sound Mode
  • Support EDIFIER CONNECT APP

Supplied in a very luxurious looking box is:

  • 1 pair of NB2 Pro Wireless Earbuds
  • Portable Charging Case
  • 3 pairs of silicone ear tips (small, medium and large)
  • USB-C Charging Cable
  • Drawstring Bag
  • Instruction Manual

Once I opened the box, I put them on to charge straightaway. The earbuds are housed in a small portable charging case, and you use a USB-C cable to charge the case which in turn charges the earbuds. Charging time is quite fast, taking approximately 2 hours to completely charge the case and around 1 hour to charge the earbuds themselves. Fully charged earbuds will give you between 8-9 hours playback (they have a 60mAh battery capacity), but playback time will vary depending on what options you are using (if you have the active noise cancellation turned on you will only get around 7 hours of use for example). The small charging case has a 500mAh battery capacity and will give you up to another 23 hours of playback (approx. 3 full earbuds charges). With a fully charged case and earbuds you can have up to 32 hours of playback time. If you have charge in the case, every time that you place the earbuds back in the case they will start to charge – excellent for when out and about and have no access to a power point. And for those that forget to charge them and need them in a hurry, they do feature a 15 minute fast charge that will give up to 2 hours of use (again depending on settings used).

Like all wireless devices they do need pairing. Pairing them to your phone or tablet is really simple. Out of the box they are already in pairing mode, so you just need to have Bluetooth enabled on your phone or tablet and select EDIFIER TWS NB2 Pro. If you need to pair them again or pair them on another device you will have to put them in pairing mode by firstly having the earbuds in the case and then press and hold the button on the case for around 3 seconds and then select from your Bluetooth devices on your phone or tablet – it really is very easy. Once you have paired them to your device they will automatically connect once you remove them from the case (and they can be used singly).

To control the functions on the earbuds it is all done with a series of finger taps on both earbuds and it does take a small amount of time to get used to the different taps. On the right earbud, when playing music if you tap the earbud twice you play/pause a track, tap it 3 times for next track, if wanting to answer a call or hang up a call tap it twice. On the left earbud, if you tap it twice you can cycle through normal mode, ANC mode, ambient sound mode, you can also tap it twice to reject calls. Tap it 3 times to enable game mode or spatial audio. Volume is controlled by your phone or tablet, not be tapping the earbud. They also feature automatic in-ear detection – remove one earbud from an ear and the sensor kicks in and pauses the music, put it back in and it starts to play again. The automatic in-ear detection can also trigger the noise cancellation mode.

The earbuds also feature Hybrid ANC Digital Noise Cancellation. What this means is that they have a built-in dual microphone to provide better noise cancellation, which enables up to -38dB, allowing you to focus on your music or conversation in the midst of traffic, busy gyms, office chatter, or airplane droning. ANC works even no songs are playing. You really do notice the difference between using and not using it (although with it enabled your battery life will be reduced slightly).

They are also rated IP54 Water and Dust Resistant so are great for exercising with and not having to worry about sweat damaging the earbuds.

Overall, I found the Edifier TWS NB2 Pro wireless earbuds excellent. They are very stylish, have superior sound and very effective noise cancellation, excellent Bluetooth connectivity and a very good secure and comfortable fit. They are slightly bigger than some other wireless earbuds I have used but are lightweight and a really good fit. Charging is superfast and with up to 32 hours playback it is enough to see you through the day and more before needing to plug them in for a full recharge, and the 15 minute fast-charge is perfect for 2 hours use.

All they are not just for listening to music and making phone calls. For the gamers out there that like to keep their gaming sounds personal, they feature a game mode and it is excellent. With their ultra-reactive gaming mode, the latency is reduced to as little as 80ms. This ensures that there is no real lag between what you see happening on the screen and the sound reaching your ears – you are not going to hear a gunshot ringing out seconds after it has actually happened!

When making and receiving telephone calls the sound from the speakers and microphones are crystal clear, especially with background noises very effectively being filtered out.

Whilst the functions of the earbuds are controlled by tapping the earbuds, the volume is controlled by your phone or tablet and you can also download the Edifier Connect app for iOS and Android to customise settings, check battery life on the earbuds and even view the manual.

I absolutely love the TWS NB2 Pro truly wireless earbuds. I love the style and the comfort and fit are outstanding, as is the quality of the sound, call quality and charging speed.

I walk most places I go (and if not walking I’m generally on the train) so I do wear them for extended periods so the comfort is a must and I find the comfort of these is superb (you will have to try the different eartips to get the best fit for your ear).

The Edifier TWS NB2 Pro truly wireless earbuds are definitely a premium pair of excellent quality wireless earbuds with excellent sound quality and features but without the high-end price tag. You really won’t be disappointed using these, I know I’m certainly not. The TWS NB2 Pro make wearing earbuds a really pleasurable experience.

A really comfortable and pleasurable audio experience.
