MiniTool MovieMaker Review

MovieMaker

We live in a very visual world. We spend a lot of time looking at photos, memes, and short video clips on our phones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers and televisions. We also love to capture our own images on our phones and cameras, but the raw footage isn’t always what we want and could benefit from editing – whether that’s cutting bits out, adding bits in, adding text, music, sound effects, frames or special effects etc. Budding content creator, amateur filmmaker, seasoned pro or just someone who loves to capture and record those special life events or just ever day life and jazz them up a bit? The ability to edit videos can transform that raw footage into a compelling engaging and enjoyable story. That means being able to easily edit and enhance your videos and making them more fun, interesting and enjoyable is becoming an essential skill to have in today’s digital age. With the right software, even beginners can create professional-looking videos with relative ease. One such video editor is MiniTool MovieMaker v8.1 for Windows 10/11 (64 bit), a user-friendly video editing software package that has been designed to make video editing accessible to everyone and fun to use.

MiniTool’s MovieMaker is a video editing tool that is perfect for beginners and casual users as it is so easy to use. It is available as a free version (although that does comes with limitations), a monthly or annual subscription that doesn’t have any limitations or as a Lifetime subscription for a one-off fee, again with no limitations and can be used on 3 PC’s. MovieMaker offers a straightforward easy to use interface and a range of features that allow users to create and edit videos with ease. The software supports various video formats and comes with a variety of templates, effects, and transitions to enhance your videos.

MiniTool’s MovieMaker software requires Windows 10 or 11 (64 bit) with an Intel i5 or better, 2GHz+ processor (Intel 6th Gen or newer recommended). It also requires 8GB RAM, 10GB free hard drive space (for best results preferably using an SSD drive). It also recommends Intel HD Graphics 5000 or later; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 700 or later; AMD Radeon R5 or later (make sure you have up-to-date graphics drivers installed).

I have been using it on a i5 (12th Gen) laptop with 8GB RAM and Windows 11 and the laptops own graphics card and it has been running smoothly and fast.

Features:

  • User-Friendly Interface: Has a clean, uncluttered and intuitive GUI (user interface), making it easy for users to find and use the tools they need easily. The drag-and-drop functionality (or just clicking the + button) makes the process of adding media files and arranging them on the editing timeline simple.
  • Basic Editing Tools: Perform basic editing tasks such as trimming, splitting, and merging video clips. You can also add text, music, and voiceovers to your videos with a few simple clicks.
  • Templates and Effects: Comes with a large selection of templates for creating videos quickly. These templates are perfect for helping to quickly and easily enhance your videos. Users can easily add effects and transitions to add a professional quality to your videos.

MovieMaker

Overall, I am enjoying using MiniTool’s MovieMaker. While my videography is not great, I really am enjoying playing round with all the effects and transitions and making my videos look better than they started off – the software is so quick and easy to use and there are lots of helpful video tutorials that are accessed through the Help menu to guide you along the way.

Using the software is so simple. Even if you have never used any kind of video editing software before you will be able to pick up how it works in minutes – the only thing you will need is your own creativity and videos.

Once you add your video, or even multiple videos, there is a whole host of options that are available. You can easily do some basic editing such as trimming, splitting or merging video clips. Then the fun begins. Using the templates you can add audio, text, transitions, effects, filters, elements (such as Subscribe, social media icons, follow etc.) and motion. There is so much choice – you can add fade in, fade out, add text on all of your video or just in different parts, add credits, add effects such as fireworks, add in pictures overlaying the video, even having picture-in-picture with different videos.

And all of that is easy to do – just add your video to the editing timeline and add any effects required to it, then just drag them around to get where needed. It is so very easy to use, even for complete beginners. There is also a preview screen so you can keep track of what you are doing as you are going along. Once you have completed your video, preview it first and the you can export in a variety of formats (MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV and more) in standard or HD resolutions, set frame rates and screen sizes (widescreen, full screen etc.) for PC and phones (iPhone, Galaxy Note and Smartphones).

MiniTool MovieMaker is an easy to use video editor. Its user-friendly interface, templates, and basic editing features make it easy to edit videos quickly, creating a more more interesting video. A great starting point for anyone looking to dip their toes into the world of video editing or jazz up their home videos or adding clips to their social media channels.

I think it is great as it is fast and simple to use.
