Fisher Price Little People City Skyway Review

City Skyway

Hours of fun with the Fisher Price Little People City Skyway garage playset.

I recently purchased the Fisher Price Little People City Skyway playset as the twins love cars and slides and this combines both; the cars slide down the ramps and exit in any one of 3 places. Since arriving it has had so much use it was definitely a great buy.

The Fisher Price Little People City Skyway arrived in a quite large box (which is understandable as the toy stands at just over 3 feet tall (92cm) so is about the same size as the twins who are 3 years old.

It arrives in kit form, with 31 pieces plus 20 screws, so some assembly by an adult is required and you will need a Phillips screwdriver but it comes with a detailed picture instruction booklet (or if you prefer you can watch an assembly video online). All the pieces are numbered and slot together and some are screwed in place to make it sturdier. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble with the boys trying “to help”.

Once assembled it is very impressive with its bright green, orange and red ramps standing on a blue frame and is very sturdy (even with the 2 boys constantly playing with it, it hasn’t toppled over). It comes with 2 cars that fit toddler’s hands perfectly, Koby & Tessa, and you place the car at the top of the structure and let go, it then races around the ramp and you can either let it find its own way down to exit at 1 of the 3 exit points or you can manually move the large switches to direct it to the exit you want (2 exits let your car drive out onto the floor while the 3 exit is higher up so the car jumps off).

It also has a traffic light that you can adjust to show red, amber or green, a crane that you can place your car on, a working barrier gate, a parking meter and a petrol pump.

Now since it has been assembled it has been constantly been played, at the expense of their favourite train set. They have spent hours pushing the cars down the ramps (along with anything else that will roll or slide down the ramps) and there are always constant squeals of delight (as well as arguments over whose turn it is first!).

Overall I am very impressed with the size and quality and it is great for creative imaginative play, manual dexterity and fine motor skills as well as lots of fun (and is encouraging their speech and language skills as well as learning to play together)! At under £40 it is definitely value for money as the hours both boys have already spent playing with it have made it more than worthwhile as the smiles, giggling and laughing show.

So as both boys won’t stop playing with it, I would say that comes highly recommended. I will now have to check out the other items in the Little People range.

Suitable for ages 1½ to 5 years.
