The Power of Juice on the Go Review

Juice Power Bank

We live in a very tech-savvy age where even kettles and fridges are becoming smart. We have tech all through our homes, school, work and use it for all sorts of reasons including catching a train or bus. Most people will also own at least one bit of portable technology, whether that is a smartphone, tablet, MP3 player or wireless earbuds. The problem is, while all this tech is fantastic, without power they are all as useful as sand in the bath! So behind all this tech, there is a charger.

Now, most people charger their devices overnight. All well and good, but I have a habit of forgetting and then need to get enough charge into my phone before I leave the house in the mornings. I have a power-hungry Samsung Note 9 so it doesn’t get enough until I charge it properly. That means I have to charge it at my destination (if I can find a plug socket). So I needed portable power so that I can charge on the go, and Juice have the perfect answer with their 12345 portable power banks.

The Juice 12345 power bank range features 5 different power banks with different power levels (3,350mAh to 15000mAh) – #1 contains enough juice for a single charge, #2 holds power for two charges, I think you get how this is going. I received the Juice #5, which is the most powerful power bank in the range with a 15,000mAh battery and offers up to five charges (depending on your device).

I don’t drive (no charging my phone in the car!), so travel a lot by train and the quickest and easiest way to buy my tickets is via an app on my phone. But if my battery runs out, how do I prove that I have paid my fare or get out of the station? While some trains have plug sockets to plug in a charger or even USB ports, they are not always accessible with crowds of people or having to lean over a stranger to get access. So having my own portable power is a must. The Juice power bank is an excellent way to keep my phone topped up or to fully charge the battery, and with its larger capacity battery I can get a few charges from it before having to recharge it.

The Juice #5 power bank (RRP: £27.99) comes in a variety of colours (black, blue, pink or white – so should be a colour that would suit everyone) and comes with a soft drawstring bag to protect it. It has a 15,000mAh battery which is enough for approx. 5 charges of most new smartphones. It has Micro USB, USB-A and USB-C connectors to ensure that it will work with all devices. With USB-A and USB-C connectors, this enables you to charge 2 devices at once (cables for this are not supplied, but it is compatible with the cables from your devices). There is a very short length Micro USB cable to enable you charge the power bank from your laptop, but this isn’t really long enough to use to charge the power bank itself from a wall socket.

The Juice #5 power bank measures 137 x 68 x 26.5mm and weighs 342g. Should you want something smaller and lighter, the Juice #1 would be a better fit but to get it lighter and smaller it only has a 3,350mAh battery – enough for one phone charge.

Power wise, the Juice #5 power bank fully charges my phone or tablet in approx. 100 minutes (and I can charge both at once as long as I am using a USB-A and a USB-C cable). It is equipped with a LED display and displays how much power is left remaining in the power bank, so you shouldn’t really be caught out (and it is really good at keeping hold on the charge it does have in it).

Overall, this is a superb charging device for on the go. It isn’t too heavy and is small enough to keep in the pocket on my backpack (my laptop bag even has an internal system for cabling so I can easily route cables through to charge devices in various parts of the bag).

With Christmas fast approaching, this would make an excellent Christmas gift idea. It is suitable for gadget lovers, men who are fed up with receiving socks and ties every year, women who will be rolling their eyes at the thought of another unimaginative gift of make-up and teenagers who are never off their phones and spend half their days looking for a power socket.

So if you don’t want to run out of battery at the most inopportune moment then investing in a good quality power bank is a must.
