The Linear laptop bag is slim with a minimalist look but lots of storage space!
I recently purchased a new hybrid laptop/tablet computer and have been looking for a bag for it but so far haven’t seen anything that grabs my attention, until trying out the Linear shoulder bag.
I was sent a review sample of STM Bags Linear Laptop Shoulder Bag for 13” laptops (fits most laptops with up to a 13” screen).I hadn’t thought of a shoulder bag before so it was the perfect opportunity to try a laptop bag that I hadn’t looked at before and maybe help me decide what type I want.
The Linear shoulder bag is available in black or steel and I received one in steel (looks like brown to me rather than a grey which I would have thought steel would be) for review. It has a very well-padded internal compartment for my laptop with 2 dividers giving plenty of extra storage for my charger etc. It also has a large zipped external pocket which is covered over by the bag flap and contains within it a smaller zipped compartment and small compartments for my phone, pens and other small bits and pieces like my external hard drive. It also has a hanging hook for keys. Another large external zipped pocket is on the front of the bag flap so it great for storing things that you would need quick and easy access to and a pocket on the rear (this is quite tight so would really only be for some paperwork or newspaper etc.). The front flap clips closed so no one can access without unclipping.
The Linear bag is made from a water resistant fabric so if you get caught in a shower you don’t need to worry about your laptop and bag contents getting wet.
The bag is equipped with SlingTech Protection, this is a unique padded and suspended section that creates a space between the laptop and the floor of the bag so that when the bag is placed on the floor the laptop does not hit the ground and the corners and front of the bag have added padding for extra protection. It seems like a lot of thought has gone into protecting the laptop rather than just something to carry it around in.
So why is this bag better or worse than any other bag on the market? Well for me it fits my 11.6” laptop very comfortably (even if I leave on the protective neoprene sleeve I have for it) and has plenty of space and pockets and yet is quite slim and not too bulky. But my favourite feature that I think gives the STM Linear bag an edge over other bags has to be the SlingTech Protection System, the Slingtech Protection System offers a great deal of protection and is very well padded and as I have just not long purchased the laptop I really don’t want it damaged it easily.
With a price tag of £54.95 I think the STM Linear Laptop Shoulder Bag is definitely value for money. It has plenty of space, is water resistant and offers a great deal of protection. The removable padded shoulder strap makes in very comfortable to carry. It is extremely well made and durable and should last a very long time and with its minimalist look, I think it looks great.
So as I generally prefer a backpack my only decision now is do I want the shoulder bag or the backpack version? Either way I will be purchasing a STM bag with Slingtech Protection.
