iWALK Link Me Pro Portable Charger Review

Like a lot of other people, you may be reading this review on your smartphone. Smartphones are great, minicomputers that we can do so much more than make/receive calls and texts, like paying for things, doing our banking, taking videos and photos and that’s just a small part of what these devices can do. But what happens when you are out enjoying the good weather and your phone battery dies? Not everybody carries a charger with them, and even if you did you would then have to find somewhere to plug it in! Well, I have been trying out a very handy little device that is small enough to fit in your pocket and will give your phone a charge without the need to find a mains outlet or even a cable – the iWALK Link Me Pro Portable Charger (also known as LinkPod).

The iWALK Link Me Pro portable charger is available for iPhone or Android devices (it can be purchased with either a Lightning connector or USB-C connector). It has a 4800mAh battery, weighs approx. 90g and is small enough to fit in your pocket. It is a direct docking power bank that plugs into the USB-C charging port on your phone (or Lightning port if you buy the iPhone version) and depending on what phone you have and the way you are using it has enough in to fully charge your phone (my Samsung Galaxy Note9 charged from 4% to 85% with the phone still on but just displaying the clock).

It also works with other devices with a USB-C port (or Lightning port) including wireless earbuds (it will use low power to charge the case / earbuds).

The iWALK portable charger measures approx. 7.5x5x2.5cm so is small enough to fit in a pocket and take everywhere with you, especially as it only weighs around 90g. It has a fixed protective cover to protect the USB-C connector from any damage and the front features an LED display so that you can monitor the power on the iWALK charger.

It is a very easy device to use, no need for any cables. To charge, you can plug it directly into a charger (cordless charging) or you can use a USB-C cable from a charger (wired charging). It takes approx. 1.5 hours to fully charge. To use it to charge your phone or other device you just plug it directly into the charging port on your device where it will start to charge straightaway. It uses PD Fast Charging at 18W to fast charge your phone. It also features pass-through charging so that you can charge the iWALK and your phone simultaneously so that you only need one mains outlet and one power cable (although this will slow down charging but is more convenient).

It is also available in four different colour options so you can match it to your phone: Black, White, Pink or Purple.

Overall, I love this little portable charger, I think that the iWALK is excellent. It only has a 4800mAh battery so will only give most phones 1 full charge, but that is due to the small size which is the idea of this pocket power bank – you can get bigger power banks that hold more charge, but these are bigger, bulkier and heavier, don’t fit neatly into a pocket and require cables. Due to its small size and weight, once the iWALK is docked onto your phone, as you are freed from trailing cables you can still easily use your phone.

It is not just a device for phones though. It can also be used with other USB-C devices such as wireless earbuds where it will use a low current to charge them to prevent damage.

I love how so easy it is to use. There is no need to hunt around looking for a USB cable or mains outlet, you just pop off the protective port cover (which stays attached to the device so that it doesn’t get lost) and plug the iWALK directly into the charging port on your phone. As soon as it is docked to the phone it starts to charge it. Whilst it is docked to the phone the LED display on the front of the iWALK charger shows how much charge is left in the device, displayed as a numbered percentage. When not plugged into your phone, if you want to see how much power is left in it you can press the power button on the side of the iWALK to turn on the LED display and see the remaining percentage (it turns off after a few seconds).

When you have finished charging your phone you can just unplug the iWALK or you can power it off by pressing the power button on the side twice.

The iWALK Portable Charger is the perfect summer accessory to help you enjoy the outdoors this summer. Our phones are important to us, everything from calls and messages to maps, photos and paying for things in shops, so making sure we have enough power in them to last all day is a must and the iWALK portable charger can help to achieve that.

An excellent small and lightweight device that provides extra charge for your phone whilst you are on the move, without the need for cables or a mains outlet as the device just plugs directly into your phone.
