Here in the UK the weather isn’t the greatest, we spend much of the year inside our homes, bundled up from the wind and rain. So when the sun finally makes an appearance, it’s so worth making the most of it. A chance to have fun and make memories and generally do as much as you can.

Watch some sports

Whether it’s Wimbledon, Royal Ascot or Formula One that’s your thing- why not go out and watch some sports this summer? There are events on in just about every sport over the next few months, some are held here in the UK and others could be an excuse to travel. If you can’t get to the actual event, you could create your own by throwing a party and watching it on TV. Spice it up a little by placing bets at a site like Freebets, or just place wagers between yourselves.

Attend local events

If you’ve ever scoured the local events calendar on Facebook, you’ll find that there’s no shortage of fun things to do in your local area. From outdoor cinema screenings to festivals, shows and more it’s well worth a look. They’re often free or very cheap to attend and there are events for all kinds of interests. If you’re bored one weekend or find yourself at a loose end while you’re off work, have a look and see if there’s anything interesting you could go to.

Go camping

Camping is fun for all the family, and best of all you don’t need loads of money to do it. You could hire a caravan or a glamping pod at a campsite if you want something a bit more ‘home from home’- but otherwise a tent and a few camping supplies is all you really need. Drive somewhere pretty and enjoy biking, fishing, hiking and orienteering before retiring back in the evening. You can bring your dog with you, and if you have kids there’s plenty of skills you can teach them.

Eat outdoors

Barbecues, picnics, even just eating your regular dinner (but out in the garden) after work feels great in the summer. Make the most of that sunshine, and ideally get everyone together! Food and drink is the perfect way to round up your loved ones, get your garden spruced up and spend sunny summer days eating tasty food and long summer evenings chatting around a chiminea or fire pit.

Travel

Travel can be expensive, but if you’re flexible with where you go then you can find some fantastic deals. Check sites like Groupon for bargains along with last minute holiday deals. Pack a case and enjoy a few days or even a week in an exciting new destination. Travel is never a waste of time or money, while you can travel all year summer tends to be the best weather wise (unless you’re travelling to the southern hemisphere).

What’s on your summer bucket list for 2019?
