Finishing school and finally being free of exams and teachers for a while is the best feeling in a teenager’s life. Being able to finally break away from the chains of school or college is an awesome feeling and it is the ideal opportunity for us to unwind and let go.

Today we are going to explore some of the places you can visit during your young years after the sixth form trips, residentials and family holidays of the past, in order to find your own flow and explore some of the world on your own terms. Here are some of the best and most affordable places in the world for you to visit this year.

France

If you are looking for a trip which isn’t too far away and which will get you in the mood for a long haul flight, France is a great starting point for you this year. France is a country which is diverse, has a lot of different climates and terrains, and can pretty much provide something for any type of trip. If you are looking for an educational and adventure style holiday, Normandy is an ideal place to be. However if you want a beach holiday with cocktails and the high life, Cannes is the place to be. Whatever you want out of your trip, France is a great choice.

Switzerland

For those of you who love to be out in the open and want the chance to explore the world in its most natural form, Switzerland is the ideal place to come to. If you go during the summer you may be able to take part in festivals and you’ll be welcomed by all who live there.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is one of the cheapest places to go if you are a backpacker this year and it is a great choice for all travellers. This country has some lush greenlands and striking mountains, and it is a great place to come for a tour or a bike ride. Because of the sheer number of backpackers that visit this country, Sri Lanka has many backpacker packages aimed at youth which will give them a guided tour of the country over a number of weeks. Joining a group like this can be a good way to make some new friends for life.

Indonesia

If you have always wanted to visit a country which you could get lost in, Indonesia is the one for you. This country is one of the biggest in the world by square metres and it is made up of 17,508 islands, this is a country which you could explore for a year and never scratch the surface of. The home of some of the most unique wildlife and landscapes in the world, this is the perfect place for someone to visit if they want to escape from the real world for a while and find themselves. Within the country are tourist destinations such as Singapore which is a bustling city, and Bali which is a haven for all. Croatia

Love Game Of Thrones? You can visit King’s Landing in real life if you take a trip to Croatia. Dubrovnik is the home of the capital of Westeros and you will be able to visit many familiar filming spots from the show during your stay. When it comes to European travel, Croatia is often overlooked and this can be a real shame, but on the plus side it means that this is a more affordable location than places such as Spain and Italy.
