STM Goods ChargeTree Go Wireless Charging Station Review

ChargeTree Go

Do you love Apple products? Do you have an iPhone, AirPods and an Apple Watch? With such hi-tech gadgets comes great responsibility … to keep them charged, otherwise they are just useless drawer junk. But charging all three devices at once can be a pain, especially when you are in a hurry. Do you charge them one at time, waiting for one to charge before charging another? Do you have different cords and plugs taking over the countertops, desktop or nightstand, creating a bird’s nest of trailing cables so that you can charge them all at the same time? All these devices are great, but charging can become a problem when having to charge more than one thing at once. Well help is at hand for owners of Apple products, if you are lucky enough to own an iPhone, AirPods and an Apple Watch you can now charge all three at the same time using one charging stand and one cable with the STM Goods ChargeTree Go Wireless Charging Station. You may already know STM Goods from their quality laptop bags.

The STM Goods ChargeTree Go is a space-saving 3-in-1 vertical charger that stands neatly on a flat surface (desk, nightstand etc.). It can charge your iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch simultaneously when in its vertical position, or you can charge just your phone in its unfolded horizontal state and it folds up compactly so that you can take it with you (it is even supplied with a handy carrying pouch) so that you charge your devices wherever you find a power outlet.

In the box:

  • ChargeTree Go
  • 1 Meter USB-C to USB-C Cable
  • Carry Bag

STM’s ChargeTree Go is a very versatile compact wireless charging station with space to charge 3 very different devices at once without the need for multiple bulky chargers and messy cables all over the place.

The ChargeTree Go is a fast wireless charger compatible with iPhone 8 and above, all series of Apple Watch and Apple AirPods (in their charging case) as well as being Qi certified so that it also charges Android smartphones that support wireless charging. It is a very convenient and time-saving charger to keep your devices charged, all in one place and all at the same time.

It is a lightweight, compact device making it very portable, easy to throw in your bag or pocket. As it folds flat it is also very easy to store and takes up very littles space on a desk or nightstand.

The ChargeTree Go is NOT supplied with a wall plug. We all have plenty of USB chargers from lots of different devices plugged into the wall, taking up space in drawers etc. so that shouldn’t be a problem, most of us probably have more than we need. At least that’s what I thought anyway. The ChargeTree Go requires specific power output that is above normal USB plugs that you might already have around the house so you will need to check the power specifications on the plug you are going to use. The ChargeTree Go requires a 20W / 2.22A wall plug (the specifications are generally printed on the plug) to be able to fast charge your phone and charge all three devices at the same time. It is a multi-device charging station so requires more power. If you don’t have the correct plug, you can buy these or Amazon for around £10 or so.

With the correct wall plug you will be able to simultaneously fast charge your phone on the front of the stand (at 15W/7.5W – most phones only accept 7.5W), charge your Apple Watch (3W max) on the spring-loaded pop-out arm and your Apple AirPods in their wireless charging case (5W max) on the rear on the stand.

It is supplied with a detachable 1 metre USB-C to USB-C cable which you must plug into a 20W wall plug. You can use the ChargeTree Go flat and unfolded, horizontally as a charging platform for your phone (Apple or Android) – it features rubber feet on the base to prevent slippage or scratching of surfaces, or you can open it into its vertical position to make use of its full capabilities. If left folded, you just lay your phone on top and it will start to charge wirelessly, and it makes use of the wireless fast charging so that your phone is charged in no time at all. If you want to charge your watch or AirPods on their own or with another device, you unfold it into its vertical position.

There is a good sized lip and the base which comfortably lets you stand your phone on (even in a case) to charge. When charging, there is a LED strip at the base of the charger that will initially illuminate to indicate that charging is in progress (this was a white light, not too bright or distracting but enough so that you can see charging is in progress), the light will turn off after a few seconds so if using it in a bedroom it will not keep you awake. The left side on the LED strip is for the phone, with the right for the rear charging platform for the AirPods.

When in the vertical position you place your phone on the front to charge (it can wirelessly charge phones with a phone case of up to 5mm thick), your AirPods (in their charging case) on the platform behind the vertical phone charging plate. To charge your Apple Watch, the ChargeTree Go has a spring-loaded retractable pop-out arm to place the watch over – just give it a gentle push inwards and the arm effortlessly pops out from the side of the charger. You then just hang your watch over it, and it will start to charge (this also features a LED light strip that illuminates). When finished, just push the arm back in until it clicks, and it is hidden out of the way again.

Overall, I think that the ChargeTree Go is excellent. It charges three different devices at once in a very small space without the need for different chargers and cables. Whilst it is a very minimalistic device, it is very sleek, versatile and easy to use – no buttons to press, switches to move. It is prefect for charging a phone, watch and earbuds at the same time and at a very fast charging speed.

It is extremely lightweight and portable (and is supplied with a good-sized carry bag to prevent damage) and makes charging when away from home simple. And as it can charge all three devices at once, you only ever need one charger, whether at home or when you leave home, making it the perfect travel companion.

I love that because it is Qi certified it will also charge Android phones that can be wirelessly charged as well, so is not just limited to Apple devices.

It also features built-in safety features to prevent overheating and overcharging of devices. Once the devices reach 100% charge it will stop charging the, protecting their batteries from damage.

The only small niggle with the ChargeTree Go was that it didn’t come supplied with a wall plug. With the ChargeTree Go costing around £70, as it needs a more powerful plug than one that may already be in use at home (or buried in a drawer), I think that it should be supplied with the correct one. Usually, when different devices can all use the same plug as the power requirements are the same, I prefer that new devices aren’t supplied with a plug – it reduces the price and means less wastage, I already have a few spares in drawers around the house, but as this has specific power requirements, I think that this is definitely one device that should be supplied with one to ensure proper charging of all devices.

I love the STM Goods ChargeTree Go, If you are the owner of an iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch it is the must-have space-saving, multi-device charger for gadget lovers.

Rating: 4.5/5 (would be 5/5 if wall plug was supplied)
