Technology has advanced so much over the years but people still enjoy listening to their music, or podcasts or other downloadable or steaming audio, so one thing that hasn’t changed is the need for headphones or earphones. So with so many people now walking around listening to music on their phones a good set of earbuds or headphones are an essential.
I love Edifier speakers, having tried a few different ones in the past, so I was delighted to be asked to try out some of their earbuds. Edifier speakers have always been of high quality so I had high expectations for the earbuds.
Edifier products are always very stylish and stand out from the rest. With their speakers they always manage this, although there isn’t a great deal you can do with an earbud (after all, they are hidden within your ear). That said, they do look good with their red (wire), grey (earbud) and black (eartips) colouring.
The Edifier P265 Earbuds are a wired set of in-ear earbuds. They come with a microphone and controls for volume and call answering on the wire and a 3.5mm stereo connector. The cable length is 1.3 meters. Out of the box they are already fitted with a set of silicone eartips, with 2 more pairs of different sizes in the box – so should fit all ear sizes (small, medium and large).
I have always had problems getting earbuds with silicone tips to fit my ear properly and stay in, but with the P265 earbuds I found the fit of these perfect for my ear (without having to change the eartips to a different size). They fit my ears really well but the most impressive thing was the comfort, they are so soft I wasn’t aware that I was wearing them. Another point to note is that the back on the earbuds tapered so that they are ergonomically designed to fit between your fingers easily making them much easily to handle and insert into the ear.
As for the sound, they were perfect! With the eartips fitting extremely well they have very good noise isolation – they don’t let any background sounds in or let too much sound out. When using there was no distortion, even at high levels and they produced crystal clear sound.
The controls are on the wire near the left earbud. It is very easy to change volume and tracks at the press of a button.
If being used with a phone, you can still make and receive calls as they have an inbuilt omnidirectional microphone. Again, the sound was crystal clear, and I was told callers could hear my perfectly. The controls to answer a call are on the remote by the left earbud, making it very easy to use.
Overall, I was very impressed with these earbuds. They are extremely comfortable, fit well and have perfect well-balanced sound. I would love to see them in a Bluetooth version to do away with the wire. With a retail price of £19.99 they are very well priced and definitely value for money.
