In my house we have lots of board games, tabletop games and card games that we love choosing from on game nights. The best games have always been the ones where everyone feels involved and the laughter is loud. That’s why games built around quick thinking, silly scenarios and shared reactions have become such a hit when looking for something quick and fun. These type of games are easy to pick up, fun to play and they spark conversation. Wicked Uncle’s Would You Rather? – Family Edition is one of these games. It has been designed to be light, fast and funny, but it also has enough variety to keep everyone, from younger children to grandparents, engaged and eager for the next round.
Would You Rather? – Family Edition is a card game that comes with over 200 questions cards (including 5 cards that you can write your own questions on) and is suitable for players age 5+ and has been designed with families in mind. The cards are colourful and quite large, measuring 9x9cm and have large bold text. It takes the classic game of asking two outlandish questions and turns it into a structured, family-friendly card game. The premise is simple: players take turns reading out a “Would you rather…” dilemma. There are no instructions on how to play, you just play how you want – just for fun, in rounds, score points for the funniest answers, it’s your choice. It’s a format that works brilliantly because it blends humour with a bit of personal insight and is an excellent conversation starter.
With dilemma’s from the rather sedate “Would you rather… Be the little sibling OR the older sibling?” to the more outrageous “Eat chocolate spread on your burger OR melted cheese on your cupcake?” it ensures plenty of laugher and, best of all, family conversations.

Overall, Would You Rather? – Family Edition is a fun game that can be played anywhere, anytime. With no structured rules of play it’s perfect for playing one or two cards to liven up dead time or you can make up your own rules and play your own game.
The cards come in a bright and colourful sturdy box, clearly aimed at families – so can easily be thrown in a bag or in the car. The cards are sturdy enough to survive enthusiastic handling and the scenarios are written in an easy to read, clear and bold text, having a good balance of simple and absurd scenarios. Nothing really feels too childish or too grown-up, which is a tricky line to walk.
With 200 cards there is plenty of replayability and there are even five cards where you can write your own scenarios. Even if a scenario comes up more than once, the answers will vary depending on who is in the hot seat (and more so if you extend the conversation and ask them to explain why that is their answer). That social variability gives the game a long shelf life.
This is a game that is very much about social interaction rather than strategy or first to reach the finish line. Families who prefer more tactical or competitive games might find it lighter than their usual fare. But for groups who enjoy conversation-driven fun, it hits exactly the right tone. It’s a great warm-up game before diving into something more complex on those family game nights.
Plus it’s great as a travel game as all the cards are contained in a small sturdy box, it requires no board, pieces or even a table and can be played absolutely anywhere. Oh, and there are no winners or losers, just lots of laughter (and you might even find out some new things about your family members such as if they would rather walk to school every day in the rain OR go on the bus that smells like rotten eggs!
A simple, charming, energetic and genuinely funny addition to any family’s game shelf. It encourages creativity, sparks conversation and delivers plenty of laugh-out-loud moments without requiring complicated rules or long explanations.
