Wireless earbuds are all the rage these days and Edifier have produced some very good ones, they are small and lightweight with good battery life and on the go charging cases. I use them quite a lot when walking into town or catching a bus or train and the biggest advantage for me over headphones is their size, weight and no trailing cables. Connectivity is simple as is the ease of use and I love the fact then when put back in their case they start to charge, right from the box without being plugged in. I was therefore delighted to be asked to try out the new Edifier TWS1 Pro True Wireless Stereo Earbuds.
Back in 2019 I reviewed the Edifier TWS1 True Wireless Earbuds and thought they were great, they just needed to be that little bit louder for me. The TWS1 earbuds have now had an upgrade to the new TWS1 Pro earbuds, with better sound quality and functionality, type C USB connection and better battery life with faster charging; the updates are excellent.
The previous TWS1 earbuds receives a full ‘core’ upgrade in the new TWS1 Pro earbuds. Now featuring Qualcomm TrueWireless Mirroring technology, bud-to-bud role-swapping is supported and is even more seamless than before. Both earbuds use this technology to connect to your mobile phone, providing a more stable, wireless signal transmission which makes it easier to switch between single ear and binaural uses.
- Qualcomm TrueWireless Mirroring technology to support dynamic and seamless bud-to-bud role-swapping.
- Bluetooth v5.2 and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive provides stable and secure, low-latency transmission.
- Noise Cancellation Technology ensuring clear phone calls.
- Up to 12 hours playback, an additional 40 hours using the charging case and supports fast charging in 40 minutes.
- Stylish Ivory and Dark Grey colours.
The TWS1 Pro earbuds are available in two colour options and I received mine in ivory, complete with ivory earmuffs, and in the box is:
- 2x earbuds (left and right ear)
- 3x silicone earmuffs (small, medium and large)
- 1x USB charging cable
- 1x Charging case
I was very impressed using the Edifier TWS1 earbuds, but the upgrades on the Pro version are definite improvements that make them a much better prospect. They feature the latest Bluetooth v5.2, using the newly upgraded Qualcomm QCC3040 chipset, which provides a faster transmission, lower power consumption and a more stable link. The battery life has been improved with 12 hours of constant use of the earbuds before they need recharging and the portable charging case will give another 40 hours of charge. I like that the charging case now has a USB-C connection so that I now only need one cable for my phone, tablet and earbuds, it makes it so much more convenient. The charging case now supports fast charging so that you can charge the earbuds in only 40 minutes, a massive bonus.
The sound quality is very clear on playback of music and video streaming. Phone calls are much clearer on both ends of the conversation with the Qualcomm cVc8.0 Noise Cancellation Technology which suppresses external environmental noise, resulting in more confident, smoother communication and stronger call sound transmission.
They are also dust and water resistance (IP56) so that you can use them for exercising without having to worry about sweat damaging them, or even being caught out in a quick rain shower.
The earbuds, as well as the charging case, are lightweight but sturdy and well-constructed, and the fit in the ear is very snug. The on-ear tap controls make them very easy to use for playing/pausing music, skipping tracks backwards and forwards and answering calls.
I loved the TWS1 earbuds, but the TWS1 Pro are a much better prospect with some small improvements that make them almost a new product. They fit well, are easy to use and the sound quality is excellent and the extended battery life will give all day usage between charges.
If you want a good quality, well-fitting and easy to use pair of truly wireless earbuds without paying a fortune then I can recommend the Edifier TWS1 Pro, they have everything you need to make listening to music on the go and taking phone calls a quality experience.
