Life’s A Beach – That’s Why You Need A Sporting Vacation!

Vacation

Spring is here and it will soon be summer, which means one thing: a vacation! There is nothing like a holiday to recharge the batteries because life can get boring. There is one problem, though, and that’s choosing the perfect getaway. Everyone loves to sit on a beach for two weeks, but is that the best use of your time? You only get a couple of weeks a year, so it’s important to use them wisely. With that in mind, now is the time to go on a sporting holiday because it’s fun, exciting, and unpredictable. Here are a few examples that might tickle your fancy.

Hiking & Mountain Climbing

Hiking and mountain climbing for a week or two sounds like hard work, and that’s because it is! But, it’s also one of the most fulfilling and awe-inspiring holidays ever. The feeling of traversing a mountain is incredible, and the feeling is even better when you look out at the view. Plus, it is something that you can do as a family as long as the kids aren’t too young. If mountains are a little out of your range of expertise, there is always hiking. Countries like Canada have some of the best trails and wildlife in the world, so it’s just as rewarding. Watch out for bears, though!

Skiing

Do you fancy spending all day hurtling down a mountain and drinking all night? Do you? I should have guessed! Yes, that is pretty much the itinerary for a skiing holiday. Of course, there is no need to get drunk if you don’t want to because there is hot chocolate by the fire, and you can enjoy a nice dinner. The main reason to go is the thrill of the sport. There aren’t too many sports or vacations that match the thrill of skiing. Again, it’s fun for all the family even if it’s a tad expensive. For those of you that have the money, it should be a contender.

Watching Sport

Look, no said you have to participate. After all, it’s your vacation, and you can do what you want. So, if you would rather view the action from a distance, you can. All you have to do is pick a place with plenty of sporting action and buy a few tickets. New York is an excellent choice at this time of year because the basketball is midway through the season as is the baseball. But, it’s also a great holiday if you want to stay at home and don’t want to get on a plane. In the UK, the sports season is in full flow with football, rugby and horse racing. In fact, the Grand National takes place in a few weeks and there’s nothing like watching a National Hunt jockey cheat death in person! Plus, this style of vacation gives you time to do other things and explore. Going on a sporting holiday is brilliant, but it’s even better when you get to take in the culture.

So, they are the options. Do any of them strike you as a good way to spend your time off work?
