I am currently in the middle of moving house, which as anyone who has ever moved home knows it is stressful, time consuming and expensive. As I am trying to decorate as I go along, while assembling furniture and deciding where to put everything, all around 4 year twins, it has been very difficult. So when I was asked to review the Tranquil Pull Down TV Mount it couldn’t have come at a better time.
So, what is the Tranquil TV Mount? In a nutshell, it is a wall bracket to mount your television on (fits 40” to 65” television sets) but has an advantage over standard wall mounts as this one can be mounted over a mantel or fireplace with the television being able to be pulled down over the mantel for a better viewing position.
When the box arrived, I could tell it was going to be a good quality wall mount, it weighs 13.1lbs (approx. 6kg). On opening the box looking at all the various parts looked a very daunting task as assembly is required. Supplied is a detailed installation guide but I found the installation video on the website to be much more beneficial and easier to understand (the video can be found here).
All the fitting required to mount the stand are in the box and in a very simple format; all screws, nuts, bolts, washers, raw plugs, hex key and even a small spirt level are supplied in a plastic bag that is split into compartments and labelled from A to N, so no need to go hunting through a variety of packets or pieces to find the correct piece. A simple, yet effective way of making sure assembly is as easy as possible and ensures you are always using the correct piece.
Assembly was pretty straight forward and as I was mounting on a solid wall had no issues and didn’t have to locate studs in the wall. It took me around 30 minutes to fit the bracket (this included reading the instructions and getting tools together and unpacking the box, but didn’t include watching the video as this is approx. 25 minutes long but worth watching). The bracket will fit most televisions with VESA and non-VESA fixings.
Once assembled and fitted to the wall it didn’t stick out as much as I expected and has quite a thin profile. It is very easy to use as there is a handle to easily pull down the TV over the mantel giving a much better viewing position so that I could sit comfortably on the couch and watch the TV at eye level rather than looking up at a higher mounted TV (much better for me as neck strain gives me migraine headaches and with this mount I’m not straining my neck having to sit looking up, so an added bonus for me!).
So, what do I think of the Tranquil TV Mount? This is an excellent, high quality piece of engineering where everything has been thought of, even down to packing the screws etc. into one sealed package with individual lettered compartments. It feels very strong (not flimsy metal brackets or fittings) and is easy to fit and use, easily pulling the TV down into a better viewing position and moving back against the wall.
If you have a mantel on large unit that you want to mount the TV above, the Tranquil TV Mount is the perfect solution. Even if you don’t want to mount over a mantel, unit or fireplace it’s great for keeping the TV out of the way of children and their chocolate covered fingers.
While it is more expensive that a standard TV mount, the quality and engineering behind it make it very good value for money and is definitely worth the investment.
