KAZAM Tornado 348 Review

KAZAM Tornado 348

The KAZAM Tornado 348 is extremely slim and lightweight.

I was recently sent the Tornado 348 mobile phone from KAZAM to review. As long as a phone can make and receive calls and texts, maybe take a photo or check your social media and use apps what makes one phone better than another? Well the KAZAM Tornado 348 does all of that so what’s the big deal? Why buy this over another?

So what can I say about the KAZAM Tornado 348 mobile phone apart from the fact that it does make and receive calls and texts? Well if you are looking for a slim, lightweight phone then this is the one, I doubt you will get anything slimmer! It is powered by an 8 core processor and runs on Android KitKat 4.4.2, it is ultra-thin at only 5.15mm and is very, very light weighing only 96g (approx.).

With its OctaCore 1.7Ghz processor the phone is extremely fast and responsive (I’m comparing it to my Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini) and is superb for multi-tasking.

The colours on the large 4.8” AMOLED HD screen are clear, crisp and bright and comes with Gorilla Glass to protect against damage and scratches (KAZAM even offer a FREE screen replacement if you do manage to accidently break the screen within the 1st year as long as you have registered the phone with proof of purchase).

It comes equipped with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera and both give good quality and I loved the fact that I can take a series of pictures in seconds. Both cameras have auto-focus and auto-exposure making taking better pictures possible even for the poorest of photographers with minimal effort.

It comes with 16GB internal memory, but no SD card slot to expand it, but has a feature call OTG (USB On-The-Go) so that you can connect to USB devices such as flash drives or keyboard.

I’m not one for having lots or ringtones, beeps and noises but the Tornado 348 has quite a variety to choose from it you are into that sort of thing.

The phone is easy to use. The sound quality is crisp and clear and it even has Smart Gestures such as double tap the screen the wake from sleep or by putting the phone to your ear to automatically answer the phone.

It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and charges through a micoUSB port on the bottom so you can easily charge through your computer or wall charger.

Just using the phone for everyday calls, texts and checking Facebook the battery for me lasted 3 for 4 days. When using with Wi-fi turned on and streaming video all the time it lasted about 4 hours. So depending on what and how you are using the phone the phone the battery life might not be the greatest. But that’s the sacrifice you have to make to reduce the weight and make thin phones. Checking while writing this the phone is charged at 95% and reports a battery life of 18 hours with Wi-fi and Bluetooth turned off.

Overall I am very impressed with the KAZAM Tornado 348 phone although I am still getting used to the weight (or lack of it) as I don’t feel it in my pocket. It is sleek and powerful, extremely slim and lightweight. Despite its lightweight it feels very strong, durable and has little flex in the casing, although I don’t know how it would stand up to having it your back pocket and sitting down (for me that’s not a problem as I don’t like things in my back pockets).

The only very small negatives for me are the lack of microSD slot to expand the memory, the battery life and the lack of a removable battery. Other than that the phone is great and with a RRP of £149 for an unlocked SIM-free phone packed with lots of features it is a bargain!
