ROCCAT Khan AIMO Gaming Headphones Review

ROCCAT

I really don’t like wearing headphones as I have always found them heavy, bulky and uncomfortable, that is until now! I have never worn headphones that are so comfortable, I forgot I was wearing them at one point.

The ROCCAT® Khan AIMO Gaming Headphones are a Hi-Res certified Stereo Gaming Headset. They have a built-in microphone and feature an inbuilt 7.1 sound card (24-bit 96kHz DAC sound card for no noise) delivering 7.1 high resolution sound (precise surround sound with rich highs, mids & lows) with passive noise cancelation (they work great even in the nosiest of environments).

As I’ve already mentioned how comfortable these headphones are I’ll start there. The earpads have soft and comfortable memory foam padding. The earpads also swivel so you get a perfect fit. The headphones also are lightweight, weighing in at around 275g. With the memory foam padding, swivelling pads and light weight this makes for a really comfortable fit. They also feature (when in use) RGB illumination and cycle through a combination of lights (they have a 16.M colour lighting engine with effects and presets).

The headset itself is easily adjustable on its steel sliders. The controls for volume and mic are located on the right earpad and I found them easy to reach and use.

The microphone is a fixed piece on the headset. It cannot be removed but it is easily moved up and down out of the way and isn’t so close to your face that is obtrusive. When in use, the microphone picks up your voice very well and it is very clear and understandable to other listeners. My only issue with the microphone is that it feels and looks cheap compared to the rest of the headset.

With most headphones I have used in the past they come with a 3.5mm jack but the connection on these is USB rather that phono, this makes it very easy to plug them into your games console or laptop. And while I would prefer a wireless Bluetooth option, this wired set has a generous cable length of just over 2 metres, so you can plug them into your console or laptop and sit quite fall back from the screen (obviously depending on how big your room is and how it’s laid out).

Overall, I think that these are an extremely comfortable set of gaming headphones. They also produce excellent quality sound, both through the ear pieces and clear sound through the microphone. They are lightweight, easily adjustable (headphone band and earpads) and the sound is great.

For gamers, serious or not, these would make a great Christmas gift as they are extremely comfortable to wear and sound great. While not the cheapest they do have good quality sound and comfort.

I have never used headphones that are as comfortable as these before and they really are great for extended wear while gaming. They are also great at cancelling out external background noise.
