Musical Ninky Nonk Track and Train Set Review

Musical Ninky Nonk

The Musical Ninky Nonk train set is a great starter set for train mad children.

With 2 train mad 3 year old twin boys to keep amused they were delighted when this In the Night Garden Musical Ninky Nonk Track and Train Set from Golden Bear Toys arrived for review.

It consists of 10 plastic track pieces, 2 bridge pieces and a train with 2 carriages. The track pieces all slot together quite simply and create an oval shaped track.

The Musical Ninky Nonk Train requires 2x AAA batteries (hidden behind a panel that requires a small crosshead screwdriver to access, so no little hands getting at the batteries). Once the batteries are installed and the 2 carriages hitched up you press the button on top of the train and it drives itself around the track playing the theme tune. To save battery life the train will stop after approx. 20 seconds, about 3 circuits of the oval track.

The boys love building the track, the pieces are quite large but fit together with ease and both boys can put the track together themselves, although they do need help to put on the bridge pieces on the side of the yellow bridge piece. They also love watching the train go round the track and also use it alongside their wooden train tracks so not only is it great for hand-eye co-ordination but excellent for imaginative play.

With a retail price of £24.99 that may initially seem quite high but the hours of play the boys have had with it so far and keep playing with it everyday definitely makes it value for money.

As for quality, it seems very durable with the chunky plastic track pieces and is surviving the treatment of 2 toddlers.

As both boys love the building and playing with this set and incorporating it into other toys I would have to rate it 5 out of 5 and I am sure both boys would, especially as one says “Aah! It’s cute!
