Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod Review

PIXI Mini Tripod

The Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod is an excellent small and portable camera accessory.

Not being a great photographer, although I do take lots of photos on my phone and digital camera, anything to help taking pictures easier is a must so when I was asked to try out and review the Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod in black (MTPIXI-B) I was delighted.

Manfrotto is a world leader in photography and video accessories and their products are excellent for professionals and amateurs.

The PIXI Mini Tripod has 4 different colour options and I received it in black, which would have been my chosen option. The PIXI Mini Tripod is suitable for use with cameras with a ¼” screw thread; Compact System Cameras, DSLR with standard kit lenses, Compact Cameras and using the optional extra TwistGrip can be used with Smartphones.

The PIXI Mini Tripod is very lightweight, weighing in at around 190g, making it an ideal portable tripod and measures approx. 18cm when closed, 13cm when opened. Made of aluminium and technopolymer it is very well made, screams quality and measures 18cm when closed, 13cm when opened.

To attach your camera is simple and straightforward, just attach the tripod with the screw fixing to the base of your camera. It can be used as a tripod that sits on a flat surface or as a handle for your camera when using for handheld video recording. The legs open to a 45° angle so it is very stable on a flat surface such as a desk.

You can tilt the camera +/- 35° by pushing and holding the bright red button on the side and holding in until you have the position required, then releasing the button to lock it into place.

Once you have set the angle and placed the tripod in the optimal position for your photo you can then start taking pictures that are steady so no more blurry images caused by shaking hands. For me it meant I started using the timer function for the first time ever so actually making use of the cameras other functions.

When using as a handle to record handheld video and the tripod legs closed the camera is much easier to hold and I found it much easier to get a better shot and so much better at capturing video smoothly and as the camera has now has an extended handle can lift higher for a better angle or above people’s heads and very comfortable to hold.

So after using for a couple of days I found the Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod to be an excellent portable tripod. Great quality, very well made, easy to use and small enough to take anywhere with you. With a RRP of £32.95 I think this represents excellent value for money.

Whether you are an amateur or professional photographer this tripod is a quality camera accessory that any owner of a digital camera should have to make taking photos easier with more stability.

I can highly recommend it.
