You can make some changes to your kitchen without spending too much money. Here are a few ideas to give you some inspiration.

Don’t Replace All the Units

It is easy to make some changes to the units in the kitchen without replacing all of them. You could sand down some of the units and repaint them. You could even use chalk paints, and then you don’t need to worry too much about the sanding. Chalk paints are really quite durable and work well in the kitchen. You could even use a jigsaw to cut out some shapes from the unit doors. You could leave them, or have some glass inserted in. Then it will just make a difference to the look of the whole kitchen. If the rest of the units are looking fine, then you could change up the countertops. Somewhere like George Hill Timber and Building merchants would be a place see the styles of countertop available. Some materials are going to be more pricey than others, so you can choose one that will work to your budget.

Change Up Your Storage

Instead of some of the usual ways to store your kitchen utensils, think about some new ways to store things. Have you ever thought about hanging your pots and pans, instead of putting them away in a drawer? You could suspend them from a rack on the wall or on the ceiling. You could also get some baskets to use as storage and stack them. They work great if you have a pantry space as foods keep well in them. You could integrate it into the units that you already have, or have a freestanding space for them. It is a fun and different way to store your belongings. One other way to change up your storage without making big changes is to get drawer or cupboard dividers. Being able to double up the space in a cupboard or drawer means a much less cluttered kitchen. So it will make it much easier to use the kitchen and to cook in there.

Lighting

The lighting is important in any room in the house. In the kitchen, though, it can be particularly important. You want to create a bright and fresh look in the kitchen. So it might be a good idea to get some new lighting. A pendant light is a good idea for the main light. It is also a good look if you have an island in your kitchen. Then it will draw attention to it and use it as a focal point in the room. You could also have a large modern style chandelier style light in the kitchen too. It will give off lots of light and look really stunning. It would be an unusual feature in a kitchen so might be worth doing. Some countertop lighting is a good idea too. Not all kitchens have that, but it can make such a difference. It gives you different levels of light in the room. If you can’t rewire any in, it can be cheaper to have individual lights stuck on. You can buy some that can be stuck or screwed into the unit. They can be quite inexpensive so it is an easy win.

It will make them look as good as new. So that is an easy option if you just want to make a quick update to the kitchen. If you don’t have a splashback yet, then that is a good idea too.
