Fun In The Sun! Where To Take Your Family On Holiday

Holiday

Spring is upon us, which means that it’s almost time to book your summer holiday, if you haven’t already. Here are some holiday tips for the entire year if you’re still looking for ideas for places to go…

Spring

It’s still spring, which means that if you haven’t booked any trips away yet, there’s still time to do so. If you want to spend time in the UK, it’s a perfect time of year to really make use of the British countryside – hire an Airbnb somewhere in the Cotswolds and spend your days relaxing in the cool spring sun while newborn lambs bleat from the fields around you. If you’d rather go down south, then why not check out Cornwall? It might be a little too cold to dip your toes in the sea just yet but you can always watch the surfers on Cornwall’s famous rocky beaches.

Summer

Let’s face it, a week in the sun is really what the summer’s all about. If you want a quieter family holiday, try out Menorca instead of Majorca – resorts like Arenal d’en Castell are beautiful but family friendly. If you want to go further afield, why not go to a Greek island? Try visiting Kefalonia, the largest island in the Ionian Sea. Made famous by the novel Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Kefalonia boasts glorious beaches, crystal clear seas and rocky coves.

Autumn

There’s no better time than autumn to go on a European city break – the weather’s warm but not too hot, and if you have kids then October half term is the perfect time to take them away. Go to Madrid to look at Picasso’s famous painting the Guernica at the Reina Sofia museum, or maybe go for Paris, to take in the Mona Lisa at the Louvre. If you’re more into hipster modern art then Berlin would be the ideal place for you to visit, or you could go for Marseille for a French experience that’s a little more gritty. Finally, why not go for an Eastern European country like Hungary or Romania? Not only are they reasonably priced, but the architecture’s beautiful and the food is incredible.

Winter

Finally, it’s never too early to plan what you want to do over winter – after all, the bleakness of those long dark cold months are still fresh in everyone’s memories, which means that you might want to add a bright spot to this year’s winter. Why not plan a winter sun break? If you want a really big holiday then you could always travel to the other side of the globe and take in Australia before moving over to south east Asia, countries like Thailand and Vietnam, to have an incredible once in a lifetime trip. If you’d rather stay closer to home then you could always try out a ski trip. Family all inclusive holidays are pretty easy to find online, and you could choose from a range of countries like France, Austria, Italy and Switzerland.

Happy holidays! If you have any ideas about where you’d like to go this year, let me know in the comments.
