Didriksons Kids Jackets Review

Didriksons

Living in Manchester we get lots of rain, but is has also been quite warm. So, while the warm and hot days are great, the warm and wet days are not so much. When it has been raining it has been too warm for a thick coat, so I was delighted when asked to review 2 lightweight, waterproof children’s jackets from Didriksons.

Didriksons are a Swedish company that have been around since 1913 (you will see this number on all their clothing). They started off making workwear for fisherman, so you know the clothing is going to stand up to the wind and the rain.

We received the Jezeri Kid’s Jacket in Sharp Blue (available in 3 colour options; Fuchsia, Navy and Sharp Blue) and the Jarkos Kid’s Jacket (available in 4 colour options; Flag Red, Fuchsia, Navy and Sharp Blue). Both these jackets are suitable for boys and girls, aged from 1 year to 10 years (sizes 80 to 140). They are lightweight, waterproof, windproof and breathable, perfect for British summer weather.

After the past few the jackets have had a lot of use with the mixed weather here. They have both proved more than capable of coping with the weather and keeping the kids dry, and they look great.

We received the Jezeri jacket in Sharp Blue with bright yellow on the chest and shoulders, if your children like Minions they will love the colouring of this soft-shell jacket. It’s 100% windproof and waterproof (using Didriksons STORMsystem™) with a PFC-free finish. If features a covered zip, a detachable hood, extendable sleeves (there is a red seam inside each sleeve that can unpicked to extend the arm length by approximately one size, a great idea as children grow), a chin guard, adjustable hem (adjusted inside) and it has reflective strips for those dark or dull rainy days.

We received the Jarkos jacket in Flag Red, which is nice and bright. It has the same features as the Jezeri jacket with the exception of the covered zip.

Both jackets have done an excellent job of keeping both boys dry, warm and protected in the rain and on windy days. They are light enough to carry around and can fold up small enough to fit easily into a bag. They are the perfect summer rain jackets. AS for the quality, well it is just excellent.

I haven’t had to put them through a wash yet as they just wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Overall, I am very impressed with these rain jackets, as are the boys (who given the choice prefer them to their beloved Batman baseball jackets). They look great, are excellent quality and do the job they are designed for extremely well. At around the £50 mark they are more expensive than a summer mac but the quality, durability and extendable use are worth the extra cost, and they will probably last a lot longer and get much more wear than a cheaper summer jacket.

Highly recommended. If you are looking for a a great summer rain coat, then you can’t go wrong with Didriksons, there are even waterproof trousers to match the coats!
