Catch Me; In four days a killer will strike, can Charlene prevent her own murder?
I have read a lot of good books this year so far but Catch Me by Lisa Gardner is just great! Having never read anything by this author before I’m glad that I actually decided to pick up the book and started reading.
Charlene Rosalind Carter Grant is 28 years old and in 4 days, on January 21, she will be murdered! How does she know this? She hasn’t received any threats! But on the same date for the past 2 years one of her best friends has been murdered, she is the last in the trio. She is convinced she is next as the last of this trio of childhood friends.
For the past year she has been learning to fight and shoot in order to defend herself against an unknown enemy. Both her friends were murdered without putting up a fight or any kind of struggle and in their own homes! So what chance does Charlene have? Not one to sit back and wait for death she moves to Boston and gets Detective D.D. Warren to investigate her upcoming murder.
Needless to say D.D. doesn’t quite believe the story and as not threats or crime has yet been committed feels there is no case. But it is intriguing so she starts to dig around and the more she digs around the more she is convinced that Charlene is the prime suspect in a series of shootings of paedophiles. Is Charlene hiding a secret and could she be a killer?
Overall, Catch Me is an amazing, well-written and exciting read. Lisa Gardner has created some great characters that have lots of layers and mystery. From the very page it grabs hold and doesn’t let go.
The story has plenty of twists and turns and left me unable to guess who the killer is as there are a number of possible outcomes. It builds the tension until the killer is finally revealed.
An excellent thrilling read and I am looking forward to reading more by this author. Catch Me is a fantastic story that deals several issues; internet grooming of children, mental illness and of course murder. A thrilling read!
