Many people spend ages searching for the home of their dreams. Little do they know that you can create the house of your dreams with just a few hacks here and there. Below, I’ve picked out the key rooms in every house, and provided some tips to make them exquisite!
Living Room
The living room is always one of the most important rooms in a house. Whenever someone’s looking to buy a home, they spend plenty of time studying the living area. It’s the place where everyone can come together and watch TV/socialise. Everyone wants their living room to look fantastic and feel cosy and inviting.
Aside from the general interior design of the room, I find that furniture is very important. The sofas, chairs, and tables you have will play a huge role. These things can set the tone and improve the entire look of the room. Plus, you have to remember that we’re talking about turning your home into a palace. So, you need to get good-quality furniture that looks expensive and screams quality.
Personally, I’m a huge advocate of leather furniture. I think leather sofas and armchairs look the part. They make your room look so much fancier, and people get impressed by them. No matter what, ensure you get a sofa that’s well-made and very comfortable. One good idea is to get a big corner sofa too. This looks amazing and helps create a more spacious feel in your room.
Then, you have to think about the other furniture in the room too. A coffee table is a fabulous idea. It can add more class to the room, and you can add things to it too. There are plenty of great coffee table books that will create an extra element of class.
Dining Room
There are two types of dining room in this day and age. You either have a traditional dining room, or an open plan one. Open plan dining rooms are very popular these days as people feel like it gives their home more space. They’ll often have their dining area in the same space as their living room, and it merges. You’ll see this in a lot of flats and some smaller houses. Traditional dining rooms are still popular too. The issue is, a lot of people don’t have the money to buy a house with one in.
Either way, my hacks for the dining room are relevant to either type. Firstly, you have to think about what the area is about. People go into the dining room to eat their food as a family. As such, the most important part is the dining table. You need a classy and elegant table to make this area of your home even more incredible. Your table will depend on the general feel of your home. If you have a modern house, you should get a modern looking table. Perhaps one with a glass top and sleek metal fixtures would look good? For me, I prefer wooden tables all the time. You can get some proper traditional looking ones that look amazing in a traditional home. Plus, there are still modern oak tables that look exquisite.
Once you’ve chosen the table, you have to think about what goes on it. The way you decorate your dining table has a huge effect on the overall look and feel of the room. I’m talking about things like your tablecloth, placemats, and accessories. Get your hands on some restaurant quality tablecloths to give your dining room a real five-star feel to it. Try and find placemats and coasters that match, and the effect will be enhanced. When you aren’t eating, it makes sense to keep your table bare and show off its natural look. I find that a classy fruit bowl in the centre makes it look even better.
Put a lot of time and effort on your dining room table, and it will improve the whole feel of the room/area.
Bathroom
Your bathroom is very important when it comes to creating a quality home. I find that a lot of houses live or die by their bathroom. There’s nothing more off-putting that a home with a bad and worn down bathroom. Thankfully, there are plenty of things you can do to breathe new life into this area of your home.
One thing I notice about bathrooms is that standalone showers rock. Sure, it’s convenient to have a bath and shower all rolled into one, but, it doesn’t look as good. A standalone shower cubicle looks classy and adds that five-star hotel element to the room. In fact, you can make things even more impressive by getting a wet room. If you have space, I highly recommend this. Not only does this make your bathroom look unreal, but it’s also more practical for showering.
The benefit of a standalone shower is that you can get a separate bath too. This means you can spend time choosing a bath that’s beautiful and relaxing. Think about getting a hot tub bath if you want to go all out and make everyone jealous. Of course, all of this depends on how much room you have. If your bathroom is too small, then you’ll be stuck with a bath/shower combo. Don’t worry; you can still make these work and look classy.
Kitchen
Making your kitchen look amazing is easier than you might think. I find that your appliances have the biggest impact on the place. An old fridge will bring down the tone of a kitchen dramatically. So, ensure you have modern stuff, for a modern and classy feel.
Also, if you have enough space, a breakfast bar can add a whole new element to the room. I think they’re far better than kitchen tables and well worth the investment. Naturally, the design of your kitchen plays a huge role here too. Get your design on point, and then add in these little extras to complete the look.
