Monsterland by Michael Phillip Cash Review

Monsterland vampires, werewolves and zombies fill the book with scares, horror and gore!

Well what a Halloween that was, I have just finished reading the excellent Monsterland and can highly recommend it!

Monsterland is the latest novel by Michael Phillip Cash and is a tale of a theme park featuring real monsters with werewolves, vampires and zombies and is an excellent read for Halloween.

After a worldwide virus destroys the world’s economies, billionaire Dr Vincent Conrad embarks on a plan of opening 7 theme parks on 6 continents that contain the virus victims who are now zombies after the brains and bodies are turning to mush. He has also found vampires and werewolves that have been captured and will live in the parks as tourist attractions. The official idea is to study them and try and find cures while keeping the public safe from them and them safe from the public. Visitors to Monsterland will be able to be chased by real life werewolves on the River Run water ride, interact with vampires in Vampire Village while watching them perform a rock concert and walk with the living dead in Zombieville.

Wyatt Baldwin is a 17 year old working in a burger bar with his 2 friends Melvin and Howard. They are not the most popular in school but Wyatt is kind and considerate. When he sees a vagrant enter the burger bar he pays for his meal and is rewarded with 4 VIP invites with a behind the scenes tour for the grand opening of Monsterland.

But in a theme park filled with monsters run by a power crazy billionaire, what could possibly go wrong?

Overall, this is another great story by Mr Cash and my favourite novel of his so far. With vampires, werewolves and zombies they fill the book with scares, horror and gore with the monsters hunting their pray and their desire to be freed from their prison. Welcome to Monsterland.

Without giving too much away of the storyline while Monsterland is a story of werewolves, vampires and zombies imprisoned in a theme park for the general public’s amusement it also involves family dynamics with a stepdad trying to connect with his stepchildren, love with Wyatt’s crush on Jade – the most popular girl in school and real life monsters in the form of politician’s and power hungry men.

Monsterland has a varying blend of great characters with a great mix of horror, terror, blood, gore and violence that will keep you turning the page for more. From the first page with werewolves roaming the swamps of the Everglades to the final pages with the monsters taking control of the park you will be gripped and enthralled.

A perfect read for Halloween that once I started I couldn’t put down until I got to the end, reading it in one sitting. This book will appeal to teenagers and adults as long as you are not easily offended by gruesome killings.

Are you brave enough to enter Monsterland and find out if the theme park succeeds or fails? I dare you to pick up a copy today and be taken on a thrilling ride through the world’s scariest theme park.
