Dead Scared by Sharon Bolton Review

Dead Scared

Dead Scared is expertly written and keeps you on edge!

DC Lacey Flint is back for the second instalment of the series with Dead Scared. After dealing with a Jack the Ripper copycat killer in Now You See Me this time she has to investigate the apparent suicides of female students at one of the world’s most famous universities.

Vulnerable students at colleges in the city of Cambridge are committing suicide in horrifying fashion; self-immolation (setting fire to herself), decapitation and drowning among others. When a student counsellor, Dr Evi Oliver, at the university takes an interest in the unusually high number of suicides DC Lacey Flint is asked to join the college as another vulnerable student and observe what is happening. Rather than just observe she soon finds herself investigating some rather strange occurrences but is she soon to be the next victim?

Sharon Bolton has done is again, another nerve-wracking, spine-tingling psychological thriller that keeps you gripped and guessing right until the end. She is certainly an author that knows how to grab your attention and keep it!

Dead Scared is expertly written and keeps you on edge and guessing, keeping you turning the pages and making it a very hard book to put down. While not as gory as Now You See Me its build-up of dark, psychological tension is non-stop and a joy to read.

A fantastic read from a fantastic author. If you haven’t read anything by Sharon Bolton before I can highly her work, I was hooked after the first novel and after finishing the second I can’t wait to get started on the next two (Like This, For Ever and A Dark and Twisted Tide).

The DC Lacey Flint series is nothing short of excellent so far.
